About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager at AGI is responsible for leading and improving both manufacturing engineering processes and the company's quality management system. This role drives operational excellence by optimizing production workflows, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with internal and external quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain standard work including routings, standard hours, and process flow
- Drive capacity planning and line balancing aligned with demand
- Lead daily issue resolution on the floor with clear ownership and escalation
- Eliminate bottlenecks and improve throughput, labor efficiency, and schedule adherence
- Ensure all engineering changes follow a formal change management process
- Drive design for manufacturability and support smooth product launches
- Own and enforce the Quality Management System and all compliance requirements
- Implement Built in Quality with focus on defect prevention, not inspection
- Drive leading indicators such as FPY and process adherence
- Own corrective action process with root cause, containment, and verified closure
- Ensure calibration, welding qualifications, and documentation are 100 percent compliant
- Reduce cost of quality including scrap, rework, warranty, and customer issues
- Lead and develop engineering and quality teams with clear expectations and accountability
- Maintain strong presence on the production floor and drive behavior through engagement
- Build bench strength and develop future leaders within the function
- Partner with operations leadership to ensure alignment and execution
- Support S&OP through capacity, capability, and execution readiness
- Drive fast and structured response to customer issues and escalations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred
- 2+ years of quality assurance or quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Quality, Welding, or related field preferred
- LEAN Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
- Experience in metal fabrication and mechanical equipment manufacturing preferred
- Strong knowledge of production processes, blueprints, welding standards (AWS/CWB), and quality control systems
- Experience with BOMs, routings, and standard cost environments
- Proficiency in 2D/3D design software
