Manual Machinist Inspector II

About the role

FLANDERS is a world leader in renewing machines for heavy industry, specializing in the largest and most intricate applications. The Manual Machinist Inspector II will perform lathe operations using medium-sized manual lathes and inspect parts for defects and wear.

Responsibilities

• Perform lathe work using horizontal and vertical lathes.
• Perform work on horizontal and vertical mills.
• Use measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizings, including tape measures, dial calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers.
• Perform inspection of material and parts.
• Accurately record data and complete documentation to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizings and illustrations.
• Understand materials and their various applications to complete the job.
• Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, and files.
• Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects while observing safety precautions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of manual machining experience and/or machine trades technical schooling.
• Strong mechanical knowledge required.
• Experience utilizing dial calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to take precise measurements.
• Experience effectively reading blueprints.
• Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Knowledge of trigonometry a plus.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures.
• Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, forklift trucks, and other equipment.
