What You’ll Do
- Always keep safety of self and others as the highest priority
- Operate manual machines (Lagun American Turnmaster PowerOne Series lathes, Lagun mills, grinders, drill presses)
- Repair, rebuild, and fabricate precision parts
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Measure parts using tools like calipers and micrometers
- Design fixtures, tooling and procedures to fabricate, modify or repair components
- Inspect and test finished work to ensure quality and accuracy
- Work with other team members to exchange technical information
- Perform general maintenance, troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues
- Keep work area clean, safe, and organized
- Support and mentor less experienced machinists
What We’re Looking For
- A High School diploma or equivalent. Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.
- 3–5 years of manual machining experience
- Knowledge of metal properties and other material
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read blueprints and perform basic shop math
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Experience with remanufacturing or repair work
- Basic computer skills (tracking jobs, Microsoft Office)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently under general supervision
- Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Physical Requirements
- Standing and moving for most of your shift (8+ hours), including walking between machines and work areas
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and handling parts and tools throughout the day
- Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly without assistance (heavier items may require team lift or equipment)
- Using hands and arms continuously for tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as measuring, assembling, and machining parts
- Working with precision tools and machinery, requiring steady hands and attention to detail
- Operating equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts (training provided as needed)
- Working in a manufacturing/shop setting, which may include:
- Moderate noise levels (hearing protection provided)
- Exposure to metal, oils, and coolants
- Varying temperatures depending on the season
- Following all safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
