About the role

This position is primarily responsible for the set-up and operation of various types of machine shop equipment, including manual and CNC Engine Lathes, Bridgeports, and Grinders, to produce complex tools, fixtures, and diversified products in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The role involves proactive application of expertise in documentation review, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, equipment set-up and operation, and component inspection. The incumbent must multi-task and perform various machine shop activities in compliance with company requirements (regulatory, safety, administrative, etc.) while interacting effectively across the organization to support operations and the corporate strategic vision.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine shop equipment to produce complex tools, fixtures, and products.
• Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, procedures, ECNs, routers, and other documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues and apply continuous improvement practices.
• Conduct component inspections using appropriate measuring equipment and instruments.
• Interpret graphs and data for problem-solving, SPC, and performance monitoring.
• Bring initiatives to closure through effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies/procedures.
• Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication.
• Actively participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives.
• Assist in training personnel on required technical tasks.
• Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
• Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Maintain a clean, secure, and well-maintained work area.
• Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related experience in set-up and operation of precision (high-tolerance) machine shop equipment (Aerospace manufacturing environment preferred).
• High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational/Technical school equivalent.
• Self-motivated with the ability to analyze, organize, plan, multi-task, and achieve results through collaboration.
• Strong math skills to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, procedures, ECNs, and routers.
• Ability to interpret graphs and data for problem-solving, SPC, and performance metrics.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with all levels of personnel.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts, employee training, GT&D practices, inspection methods, and root cause investigations.
• Commitment to company values, strategic plan, and vision.
• Creative thinking related to machine shop, inspection, and assembly/test fixture manufacture and design input.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration. The role involves interaction in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop setting, using standard office equipment and appropriate protective gear (eye, hearing, and foot protection). Temperature may vary due to external conditions and machining processes.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to talk and hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to stand for extended periods (7-8 hours daily), sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and crouch.
• May be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 pounds.

Schedule

4-Day Work Week – Monday-Thursday (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM). Overtime and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. No travel is expected for this position.

Pay

$29 - $34/hour, plus a quarterly bonus.
