Primary responsibilities
- Perform complete repairs on customer equipment for equipment in the Service Center.
- Work within the overall Service Center team to accomplish the goals of the business in the areas of EHS, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Operating Costs, and Productivity improvements.
Qualifications
- Must be self-motivated and open-minded to learn machining and safety procedures.
- Efficiently, carefully, and accurately sets-up and operates manual mills and lathes with extensive experience using a horizontal boring mill.
- Lays out work and produces quality parts.
- Deciphers sketches, blueprints, and engineering details.
- Provides assistance in establishing set up and layout methods, order of operations, and application of required parts and materials.
- Sharpens, reworks, resets, and repairs cutting tools.
- Inspects and checks parts being produced.
- Maintains accurate production records and job history.
- Performs minor machine maintenance activities.
- Aids in setting up complex machines and stacking, marking, packing, and transporting of finished products.
- Works at different work stations as per production requirements.
- Keeps a clean and orderly work area.
- Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.
- Operates manual and automated cleaning equipment.
Physical Work Environment
- Follows all safety and environmental directives, including wearing proper PPE.
- Uses hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Reaches overhead.
- Works in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods.
- Lifts, pulls, and pushes materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
- Lifts or moves up to 50 lbs of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday.
- Keeps a clean and orderly work area and maintains accurate records and job history.
- Works with minimal supervision, resolving complex issues.
Experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3+ years of machining experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of machine uses and manufacturing materials.
- Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics.
- Reciprocating Compressor experience a definite plus, but not required.
