About the role
JBT Marel is a leading provider of food and beverage technology solutions. We serve the global food processing industry, catering to large food processors in sectors like fruit, vegetable, meat, poultry, seafood, and bakery.
Responsibilities
- Reviews procedures, work orders, blueprints, set-up sheets and receives verbal work instructions.
- Learns to plan the job layout with as few set-ups as possible.
- Gathers required tooling and fixturing or places order with tool room if necessary.
- Learns to calculate speeds, feeds, depths of cuts and tapers for machining.
- Identifies the type of material being used and performs hardness testing.
- Learns to correct or modify tooling call-outs, offsets, speeds and feeds to allow for variations in the material.
- Operates assigned machines meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
- Logs run and setup times.
- May perform additional operations on product such as cleaning, deburring and sanding.
- Learns to run more complex jobs.
- Learns to set up assigned machines.
- Uses measuring devices to check all part dimensions.
- Completes all Inspection documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reports non-conformances.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on assigned machines.
- Stocks and inventories tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
- Maintains a neat and organized work center.
- Occasional responsibilities include assisting in other areas of the shop as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work from drawings and oral instruction.
- Mechanical aptitude with some knowledge of basic tools and metals.
- Some knowledge of inspection gauges and equipment.
- Ability to inspect parts to drawings using Vernier’s, dial indicators, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, radius gauges, etc.
- Basic computer skills necessary for time, production and quality recording.
- Ability to operate a manual mill, lathe, horizontal and vertical saws, grinders and drill presses.
- Good communication skills.
- Team player.
Qualifications
- Experience in an OEM food, pharmaceutical or semiconductor part fabrication and assembly manufacturing equipment environment is a plus.
