Manual Lathe Operator

Requirements

• Set up and operate manual lathes to machine custom parts.
• Know the types of material (aluminum, steel, and stainless).
• Use measuring tools (Caliper, Micrometer, etc).
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience running manual lathes (not just CNC) and other manual machine tools.
• Show strong mechanical aptitude and high attention to detail.
• Have knowledge of metal properties, cutting speeds, and feeds.
• Familiarity with tolerances and surface finishes.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree and/or experience in the field.
• 3+ years of experience operating a manual lathe preferred.
• Vocational or technical training in machining is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, dust, grease, etc).
