About the role

Candidates need to be based out of Saint Paul or Minneapolis, MN. The Mobile Inspector functions as a key member of the Manheim Mobile Inspections team, responsible for conducting on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory.

Responsibilities

The Mobile Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough vehicle inspections, building strong relationships with dealer clients, and delivering consistent, high-quality inspections. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough vehicle inspections in accordance with Manheim inspection standards
  • Locating, starting, moving, inspecting, and returning vehicles safely on dealer client lots
  • Verifying vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options
  • Inspecting and documenting vehicle exterior and interior condition
  • Performing basic mechanical checks
  • Identifying and documenting damage, missing components, or inoperable features
  • Building trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
  • Educating clients on the value of Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
  • Proactively engaging with dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain active participation
  • Utilizing data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity

Requirements

Candidates may be hired at one of the following levels depending on experience, qualifications, and business need: Mobile Inspector - Level 1, Mobile Inspector - Level 2, or Mobile Inspector - Senior Level.

  • Mobile Inspector - Level 1: High School Diploma or GED required, minimal automotive knowledge preferred, 0-1 years of automotive-related experience preferred
  • Mobile Inspector - Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, 1-2 years of automotive-related experience preferred
  • Mobile Inspector - Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years' experience in a related field, previous vehicle inspection experience required, strong automotive knowledge required

Qualifications

All candidates must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record and the ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes.

Skills

Key skills include attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.

Pay

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $15.10 - $32.79 per hour, depending on the level and location. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
