Join ERM as a Managing Technical Consultant, Health and Safety. Partner with leading organizations to reduce risk, strengthen safety culture, and drive sustainable business performance.
Responsibilities
- Guide clients through complex safety and risk challenges across high-hazard industries.
- Design and implement innovative safety programs that improve performance, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance.
- Lead multidisciplinary projects that help organizations build stronger safety cultures and operational resilience.
- Coach leaders and frontline personnel to strengthen safety leadership capabilities and improve organizational performance.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex health, safety, and risk management challenges.
- Conduct field-based assessments and observations to verify the effectiveness of safety controls and programs.
- Partner with clients to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainable performance gains.
- Build and expand client relationships that generate repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with ERM account teams, Principals, and Partners to develop proposals, win new work, and grow the Safety and Risk practice.
- Lead, mentor, develop, and inspire technical professionals to achieve project and business objectives.
- Deliver training, field coaching, workshops, and targeted assessments that help clients strengthen safety performance and organizational capability.
- Collaborate with ERM's global network of technical experts to share best practices and deliver integrated client solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 4+ years of consulting experience supporting organizations in safety management, risk management, EHS performance improvement, leadership development, or safety culture initiatives.
- Experience managing client relationships, preparing proposals and contracts, and contributing to business development activities.
- Strong background working within high-hazard industrial or construction environments.
- Experience supporting construction safety programs on active project sites, including contractor and subcontractor oversight.
- Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926), with experience applying requirements in field-based settings.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
- Experience leading safety transformation initiatives, behavioral safety programs, or safety leadership development efforts.
- Experience facilitating workshops and training programs.
- Knowledge of Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention and management.
- Experience supporting high-hazard industries and process safety programs.
- Experience performing compliance audits and safety assessments.
- Strong project and program management capabilities with the ability to balance scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and client presentations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 60%, depending on project and client needs.
- Passion for safety excellence, continuous improvement, and helping organizations achieve world-class EHS performance.
Preferred
- Professional credentials such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE, or similar certifications.
- 6+ years of consulting experience in health, safety, risk management, or EHS performance improvement.
- Experience leading safety transformation initiatives, behavioral safety programs, or safety leadership development efforts.

Pay
The anticipated annual base pay for the Managing Technical Consultant, Health and Safety position is $102,000–$130,886 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs.
