Position Summary
The Managing Producer will be responsible for the logistical coordination and element distribution strategy and execution for the SEC Network Studio Production, both in Charlotte as well as remote productions. Additionally, working with internal and external partners, most notably the Southeastern Conference, in molding the content relationship with our partners. This position will focus primarily on SEC Network studio productions. Additional responsibilities may include SEC Digital, SEC social, and ESPN Audio/SECN simulcast productions.
Responsibilities
- Plan ahead for major events and content strategies in surround programming on SECN.
- Communicate priorities and organize coverage across platforms, working with internal ESPN leaders.
- Help coordinate the coverage of SEC Network production between external stakeholders and ESPN production.
- Exercise news judgment and coverage decisions.
- Travel to event locations.
- Understand the technical process in which content is created and delivered to fans and provide guidance and solutions to problems.
- Main production liaison with sport partners and assist with conference relationship.
- Understand data metrics and use that information to inform content creation.
- Create and monitor schedules and budgets to ensure timely, current, and cost-effective multimedia productions.
- Mentor less experienced members of the team.
- Can effectively manage direct reports and deliver constructive feedback.
- Interfaces as required with leagues/teams/schools/coaches.
- Operates within the context of maximizing distribution and revenue opportunities.
- Communicate weekly production schedule to internal and external partners to assure proper coverage.
- Work with external groups (edit, graphics, facilities, etc.) to assure proper staffing to support production.
- Communicate with Transmission, Remote Traffic, Assignment Desk, and Central Record to identify, schedule, route, and ingest feeds needed for daily production.
- Work with CFB and CBB Event production to communicate remote needs on a weekly basis to support SEC Network Studio shows.
- Liaison with college features group to gather delivery information including cutsheet, shot-sheet, lead and tag information for proper integration into studio shows.
- Cook up halftime segments with Non-Traditional Production team to support school-controlled digital and linear broadcasts.
- Point of contact for SEC Inside relationship.
- Monitor show schedule and rehearsals to best establish production schedule and maximize resources.
- Schedule and monitor hair and makeup schedule.
- Identify studio shifts that require catering and work with facilities to schedule.
- Maintain relationship with Studio Directing and Creative Graphic team to build out graphics for new LED studio monitor to enhance the look of the studio.
- Track and clip segments from programs used in clip reviews and talent and staff feedback.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 years of practical multimedia production or related progressively complex experience.
- Experience producing a show or events across platforms.
- Detailed technical knowledge required, must have knowledge effective distribution on all platforms, and what is realistic to accomplish in time allotted.
- An understanding of what resonates culturally and across multiple platforms and channels.
- Good production skills related to assigned sport category.
- An established knowledge of sports and leagues related to one’s assignment.
- A supervisor with good leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Global understanding of live sports production execution, and the ability to impart that experience and wisdom on others in a positive and constructive way.
- Knowledge of production and video editing.
- Ability to work nights, holidays & weekends.
- Frequent travel required.

The hiring range for this position in Charlotte, NC is $110,000 to $147,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
