About the role

The Managing Optometrist leads and owns the business within the marketplace, focusing on delivering the highest level of clinical care throughout the customer journey. This role supports the office and market with medical practice, referral management, and pre/post-op surgical support (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Create a compelling vision for the future, develop clear goals, and ensure executional excellence in partnership with Regional and Store Manager(s).
• Set and communicate clear objectives, demonstrating commitment to exceeding results through KPI management and accountability.
• Ensure LensCrafters is recognized as a medical eyecare provider within the community.
• Operate as a stakeholder within the organization and local market, placing the patient/customer at the center of focus.
• Lead and manage the in-house and in-market team around medical optometry/services.
• Address all patient/customer visual lifestyle needs, including medical and surgical recommendations (if applicable).
• Build long-term patient/customer relationships, becoming their sole family practitioner.
• Listen carefully to patients'/customers' needs and provide a summary of their overall eye health.
• Conduct service in line with protocol and standards of care, establishing positive doctor/patient relationships.
• Utilize and leverage all technology to deliver an unsurpassed patient/customer experience.
• Demonstrate effective communication with all office and store associates for a seamless patient experience.
• Maintain State Licensure and practice to the full scope of that license, including continuing education requirements.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members using company-provided programs.
• Deliver timely feedback to all associates and address performance issues directly.
• Create a positive culture linked to corporate vision and values.
• Conduct chart audits with Associate Optometrists.
• Recruit, interview, and select high-caliber talent, creating a pipeline for succession planning.
• Forecast staffing needs and adjust levels to meet office traffic and patient demand.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including inventory management.
• Ensure the office appearance and visual displays align with company guidelines.

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry in good standing.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
• Knowledge of current optometric technology and practices.
• Knowledge of medical optometry, including billing and coding.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Organization and time management skills.
• Knowledge of sound business management practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Residency trained.
• Medical care experience.
• Knowledge of surgical care and practices pertaining to optometry.

Pay

Pay range: $145,352.63 - $203,100.24. Employee pay is determined by factors including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. A competitive bonus and/or commission plan may complement the total rewards package.
