About The Role

As the Managing Executive: Relationship, your role is to originate and lead the enterprise client relationship strategy across RMA’s customer segments (Exclusive, Premium, Concierge/COID Assist and Essential), delivering superior commercial performance (growth, retention, profitability) and segment‑differentiated service through integrated governance, deep partnership models and end‑to‑end value chain orchestration. Your role owns the segment P&L, sets a multi‑year portfolio growth roadmap, and ensures combined assurance across client governance, claims trends, service SLAs and regulatory compliance while building a high‑performing leadership bench (the four Heads) and driving cross-functional execution with Sales & Distribution, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, Technology and CX, improves performance metrics and ensures alignment with the organisation’s Partnership Framework.

What You Will Do

  • Strategy Origination & Portfolio Leadership: Originate the 3–5‑year Relationship Portfolio Strategy for all segments; define the value propositions, service models and governance forums per tier. Approve annual segment operating plans, targets and budgets; allocate resources across heads/segments based on value and risk.
  • Commercial Performance & P&L Ownership: Own consolidated Revenue, Retention, Loss Ratio levers and Cost‑to‑Serve for the relationship portfolio. Approve deal architectures (pricing levers, benefit constructs, commercial terms) within delegated authority; escalate beyond threshold to CEO: C&P as required.
  • Client Governance & Strategic Partnerships: Chair quarterly Integrated Client Governance for Exclusive and Premium; ensure governance maturity for Concierge/Essential. Lead strategic engagements with Exco/C‑Suite of Top 100/300 employers, Trustees, organised labour and industry bodies.
  • Claims, Risk & Compliance (Combined Assurance): With Claims/Medical Management and Risk/Compliance, set portfolio‑level risk appetite, claims intervention playbooks and re‑pricing triggers. Ensure regulatory adherence (COID and related statutes) and audit readiness across all segments.
  • People & Culture Leadership: Lead and develop the four Heads; build succession and talent pipelines; set performance contracts and incentives tied to portfolio KPIs.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Align Sales & Distribution (hunting) and Relationship (farming) motions to eliminate leakage and maximise lifetime value. Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Actuarial, IT, Strategy & CX to deliver end‑to‑end outcomes.

Job Requirements

Minimum: NQF 8 (Honours/Post‑Grad) in Business, Commerce, Insurance, Actuarial/Finance, or related. Advantage: MBA/MPA or equivalent executive programme.

Experience: 12–15+ years total; 5+ years at executive level leading multi‑segment portfolios, with P&L or quasi‑P&L accountability in insurance/financial services/benefits administration. Demonstrated success with enterprise client governance, complex negotiations and multi‑function orchestration (Ops, Claims, Actuarial, Finance, IT, CX). Deep understanding of insurance, claims behaviour and corporate client environments.
