Managing Editor (Nonprofit News / Public Interest Journalism)
About the Role
Located in Lander, Casper, or Laramie, WY (other Wyoming communities considered), a community-supported, nonpartisan, public-interest news organization serving Wyoming's civic life is hiring a Managing Editor to help direct day-to-day operations of a growing team of staff journalists and freelance contributors while helping to craft the outlet's broader editorial vision. Since 2016, the organization has more than quadrupled staff, nearly quintupled revenues, and multiplied its audience by a factor of 10, with plans to continue growing in 2027 and beyond. The outlet reaches 24,000+ newsletter subscribers, and 50+ state and regional publications rely on its reporting. This is a chance for an editor with strong news judgment and a passion for civic journalism to leave their mark on a cutting-edge, innovative team in a role that offers job security, fair compensation, and sustainable work-life balance.
