VMG Health is seeking a Managing Director, Physician Enterprise to lead and expand its physician enterprise advisory capabilities within the Strategy & Partnership Advisory business unit.
This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to health systems, physician organizations, academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, and private equity-backed healthcare platforms, helping clients develop and execute strategies that drive provider alignment, organizational growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior advisor to healthcare executives, physician leaders, boards of directors, and investors on physician enterprise strategy, provider alignment, and organizational transformation.
- Lead consulting engagements focused on physician compensation design, medical group strategy, provider network development, performance excellence, and provider growth initiatives.
- Advise clients on physician alignment models, governance structures, partnership strategies, affiliations, joint ventures, and merger and acquisition opportunities.
- Develop strategic recommendations that improve provider performance, patient access, operational effectiveness, financial outcomes, and market positioning.
- Facilitate executive workshops, physician leadership forums, board retreats, and strategic planning engagements.
- Collaborate with VMG Health's Strategy, Transaction Advisory, Valuation, Compensation, and Compliance teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Lead the growth and expansion of the Physician Enterprise service line through business development, client relationship management, thought leadership, and market-facing activities.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with health system executives, physician leaders, board members, private equity stakeholders, and other key industry decision-makers.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to the development of new service offerings, methodologies, and intellectual capital.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop consulting professionals while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Ensure exceptional client service, engagement quality, and financial performance across projects and client relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in healthcare consulting, physician enterprise leadership, health system strategy, medical group leadership, corporate development, or a related healthcare advisory field.
- Demonstrated expertise in physician enterprise strategy, physician alignment, physician compensation, medical group transformation, provider growth, or healthcare performance improvement.
- Significant experience working with hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, or private equity-backed healthcare organizations.
- Prior experience leading executive-level consulting engagements and advising C-suite executives, physician leaders, and boards of directors.
- Proven success generating new business opportunities and contributing to revenue growth.
- Strong knowledge of physician compensation design, provider network strategy, medical group operations, and healthcare growth strategies.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, financial acumen, analytical problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence senior healthcare executives, physician leaders, investors, and board members.
- Willingness to travel as client and business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, MHA, MPH, MD, DO, or other relevant advanced degree.
- Experience building, leading, or scaling a consulting practice, service line, physician enterprise function, or healthcare business unit.
- Prior experience with a leading healthcare consulting, strategy, or advisory firm.
- Physician, clinician, or healthcare executive leadership experience.
- Experience advising organizations on strategic partnerships, affiliations, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, or enterprise integration initiatives.
- Familiarity with value-based care models, payer-provider alignment strategies, and risk-based reimbursement environments.
- Established professional network within the healthcare provider, physician enterprise, or healthcare investor community.
- Demonstrated thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, industry involvement, or market-facing content development.
