Job Description

The Managing Director, GCS, Texas Region will serve as a senior relationship leader for a diverse portfolio of clients, working closely with investment and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, coordinated, and strategic service aligned with client objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary senior relationship manager for a portfolio of clients served through the Dallas office, spanning families, endowments, foundations, pensions, and other institutional clients.
  • Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with client decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with investment directors and broader client teams to deliver thoughtful, coordinated, and high-quality client service.
  • Lead client engagement activities, including regular meetings, issue resolution, and feedback discussions.
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction, engagement, and retention across the regional client base.
  • Identify evolving client needs and bring forward relevant firm capabilities and solutions.
  • Translate complex investment concepts and firm recommendations into clear, actionable communication for diverse client audiences.
  • Support clients in navigating strategic decisions by bringing insight, judgment, and a strong understanding of their objectives and constraints.
  • Provide market feedback and client perspective to internal stakeholders to help inform broader commercial and service strategies.
  • Lead the development of Cambridge Associates’ business development strategy for the Texas region.
  • Take responsibility for executing against the regional business development vision, including prioritizing opportunities, cultivating relationships, and advancing prospective client conversations.
  • Represent Cambridge Associates in the Texas market through meetings, networking, industry events, and other relationship-building activities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s presence across all relevant client segments in the region.
  • Support proposal development, finalist presentations, and onboarding activities for new clients.
  • Contribute to thoughtful market coverage plans and help drive sustainable growth in the region.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across investment, business development, marketing, operations, and other functions to deliver an integrated client experience.
  • Share best practices and help strengthen collaboration across Global Client Solutions teams.
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues involved in client service and relationship management efforts.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline, relationship, and activity tracking in firm systems.
  • Report on client engagement, retention, business development progress, and regional market activity to senior leadership.
  • Help drive outcomes aligned with firm goals for client retention, growth, and market presence in Texas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or relevant professional designation preferred.
  • 18+ years of experience in client relationship management, business development, investment consulting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success managing sophisticated client relationships and contributing to new business growth.
  • Experience working with a broad range of client types, including family, nonprofit, and institutional investors.
  • A strong understanding of investment concepts and the ability to work effectively with investment professionals and clients on complex topics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to operate collaboratively, strategically, and with sound judgment in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A willingness to travel across Texas and, as needed, more broadly.

Pay

Base salary range for this role: Pay Range Minimum: $231,600 Pay Range Maximum: $315,000 In addition to the listed salary range, this position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive, competitive benefits package. Actual placement within the stated salary range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity.
