We’re looking for a Managing Consultant
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and grow a technical consulting business unit focused on power system studies, including power flow, stability, EMT, harmonics, and techno-economic modeling
- Manage day-to-day operations, including P&L, performance management, and resource planning
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce rework and improve delivery speed
- Guide team members in understanding technical and commercial project scopes, ensuring quality across all deliverables
- Support commercial growth by expanding services in adjacent technical domains and mentoring staff in industry standards and practices
- Ensure compliance with data security, NDAs, and conflict of interest protocols during study setup, execution, and delivery
- Cook up administrative functions such as project setup, billing, staffing, and documentation in collaboration with support staff
- Monitor budgets and logged hours to prevent overruns and ensure alignment with contract terms
- Facilitate client meetings, internal team syncs, and performance reviews with clear objectives and timely communication
Experience We’re Looking For:
- 8–14 years of related experience in power system studies or engineering consulting
- Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams and project pipelines
- Strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities
- Skilled in power system simulation software and Excel-based analysis
- Experience writing and presenting detailed technical reports in English
- Familiar with commercial terms, NDAs, and consulting delivery frameworks
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering license preferred, but not required
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Willing to travel up to 25% for client visits or team meetings
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
Bonus Points For:
- Master’s or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with Electromagnetic Transients (EMT) and harmonic studies
- Past success scaling a consulting business or managing a P&L
- Familiarity with utility interconnection processes or energy market modeling
- Prior mentorship experience across both technical and business development areas
