About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Akron, Ohio with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The successful candidate will support financial planning, reporting, and analysis for the Transmission segment, serving as a key communication link on financial performance between Transmission Leadership, Utility Leadership, FP&A, the Controller’s Department, Treasury, FET Finance, and other groups.
This leader plays a pivotal role in providing strategic insights to support operations and finance, building strong business partnerships, and driving accountability for results aligned with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe workplace based on knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting for Transmission, including O&M and capital planning, full P&L ownership, balance sheets, cash flows, and credit metrics.
- Coordinate across multiple departments, Brookfield, and our Joint Venture to ensure executable plans that meet strategic goals.
- Serve as the primary interface with key stakeholders on Transmission’s budget, forecast, analysis, and performance, aligning financial plans with FirstEnergy’s, Brookfield’s, and Valley Link’s strategic goals.
- Oversee reporting requirements for FirstEnergy, the FET board, Brookfield, and Valley Link, including Board materials, strategy retreats, scenario planning, and long-term forecasts.
- Create and review SEC filings and disclosures related to FET and FirstEnergy’s Stand-Alone Transmission reporting segment.
- Assist in accounting activities such as invoice approvals and accruals, and support non-stand-alone transmission activities (e.g., WV, MD, NJ) and substation reporting.
- Build a business partner model to facilitate communication, increase business knowledge, identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive results.
- Lead a team of analysts, overseeing day-to-day processes, cost/project management, compliance, and professional development.
- Create and lead a decision support function to provide strategic insights and recommended actions based on thorough analysis.
- Educate teams on technical subject matters and lead process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degree is a plus).
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibility in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis of O&M, Capital, or full P&L results.
- Strong financial acumen, including in-depth knowledge of financial statement analysis, budgeting/forecasting, and internal/external reporting.
- General knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting principles (regulated finance experience is a plus).
- Understanding of State and Federal regulatory frameworks and ability to translate recommendations into actions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, team-building, and empowerment.
- Proven ability to develop business partnerships and earn trust across organizations.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert analytical skills with a track record of solving complex issues.
- Technical expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); SAP and UI Planner experience is a plus.
