About the Role
The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This hands-on training role covers all aspects of store operations, with the goal of promotion to a management position within 6–12 months, potentially leading to a 40% increase in annual pay. Many Manager Trainees progress to General Manager roles within 3–4 years. Relocation may be required for management positions.
No prior experience is necessary—just dedication and a willingness to learn. Training includes classroom, online, and hands-on learning across various areas.
Responsibilities
- Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
- Oversee material and supply chain flow, stock, and merchandising.
- Read blueprints and create material estimates for building projects.
- Operate forklifts and handle materials safely (certification provided).
- Manage payroll, invoicing, inventory, and financial analysis.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (prior experience preferred but not required).
- Interpret and analyze common financial reports.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Full-time availability (48+ hours/week, including overtime).
Work Environment
This role operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, assisting customers in all weather conditions (wet, humid, hot, or cold). Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 80 pounds. Exposure to machinery and airborne particles may occur.
