Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Manager, Tax to join Samsung Research America (SRA) collaborative and innovative tax team and play a critical role in tax compliance, research, planning, and process improvement initiatives.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, business tax filings, extensions, quarterly estimates, and supporting workpapers – including preparing complex modeling workpapers to support tax positions and forecasts
- Assist with the quarterly and annual income tax provision process according to ASC 740
- Manage tax projects related to income tax filing (R&D tax credit, Sec. 174, Transfer Pricing, FDDEI, etc.)
- Manage tax audits and responses to inquiries from tax authorities including maintaining appropriate tax records to ensure audit readiness
- Monitor and analyze changes in federal, state, and local tax law to ensure compliance with current laws and identify potential opportunities
- Manage the end-to-end property tax cycle, including the timely filing of renditions, valuation review, accruals, and payment of assessments for unsecured personal property
- Manage the end-to-end cycle of use tax, including accruals, tax return filing, and payments
- Actively partner and collaborate with others within the tax organization and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and adherence to internal processes that have tax implications
- Review tax language on non-standard contracts and suggest changes to align with our business and minimize tax risk
- Lead research, tax planning projects, and other ad hoc initiatives
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Ad hoc tasks related to global and domestic reporting and compliance
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Masters in Tax or CPA preferred
- 7+ years of corporate income tax experience at a public accounting firm and/or public multinational company – ideally including exposure to ASC740 provision work
- Deep expertise in federal, state, and local corporate income taxation with desire to continue learning
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and concisely to tax and non-tax professionals
- Global company tax affairs experience required
- High attention to detail with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a collaborative and team-building approach
- Exceptional multitasker with initiative, upbeat demeanor, and ability to stay organized and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word; SAP and/or OneSource experience is a plus
