Manager, Tax
About the role
The Manager, Tax will oversee the state and local tax function for HireRight’s US and Canada business operations, manage relationships with third-party partners for co-sourced indirect tax filings, keep up-to-date with state and local tax laws and regulations, and oversee the ongoing maintenance of Vertex tax software.
Responsibilities
- Manage the state and local tax function for HireRight’s US and Canada business operations
- Manage relationship with third party partners for co-sourced indirect tax filings
- Keep abreast of, study and interpret existing and proposed state and local tax laws and regulations and current trends
- Prioritize state conformity and decoupling experience is preferred
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance of Vertex tax software
- Partner with other departments on sales/use and withholding tax matters to minimize tax liabilities
- Assist with Transfer Pricing updates and documentation
- Partner with the direct tax team to assist on items as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university, CPA or MST beneficial
- Possess thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies and procedures, audit defense
- Minimum 8-years state and local tax experience in a large or complex business environment, preferably in the services industry
- Familiarity with Vertex tax software
- Experience with implementation/integration of SUT system with a large ERP system, and/or revenue billing systems, strongly preferred
- Previous supervisory experience required
