About the role
The Manager, Tax leads the development and execution of tax compliance, planning, and audit processes across the organization. This role involves managing 1099 information reporting returns, ensuring regulatory adherence, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to optimize tax strategies. The manager oversees training initiatives, mentors team members, and drives continuous process improvements while maintaining accurate documentation and risk mitigation. By partnering with cross-functional teams, this position supports effective tax reporting and compliance, contributing to the company’s financial integrity and operational excellence.
What you'll do
- Execute and manage day-to-day tax operations for independent contractor earnings, including W-8 and W-9 validation, statutory withholding, tax remittance, and related regulatory processes.
- Ensure processes are performed accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Oversee high-volume Form 1099 information reporting workflows for IRS and state and local tax (SALT), including Forms 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, and 1042-S, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Maintain strong controls and audit-ready documentation supporting reporting and withholding activities.
- Drive process improvements, enhance automation and data integrity, support regulatory changes, and mitigate risks through monitoring, defect resolution, and strengthened controls.
What you'll bring
- Extensive experience in federal, state, and international tax compliance including 1099 information reporting, statutory withholding, tax remittance, and related regulatory reporting processes.
- Manage high-volume tax reporting and withholding processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements while maintaining strong operational controls and audit-ready documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process improvements and automation within tax operations.
- Proven skills in mentoring and training team members to enhance departmental capabilities.
- Expertise in collaborating cross-functionally to identify risks and opportunities for tax savings and system enhancements.
- Ability to manage tax notices, resolve issues timely, and communicate effectively with senior management and auditors.

Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.
- Preferred Qualifications: Leading cross-functional projects, License to practice law in at least one state, Supervisory experience J.D., Masters: Accounting, Masters: Business, Masters: Economics, Masters: Finance, Masters: Law Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Certificate
