About the Role
This role is designed as onsite with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office. As a manager, you will apply advanced subject matter knowledge to lead a team of individual contributors in designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates for systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. You will manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with program and organizational roadmaps. The role involves managing exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors, with accountability for results in terms of cost, direction, and people management.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates for systems software.
- Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
- Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, setting expectations for deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration between team members and outsourced resources.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.
- Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, performance planning, coaching, and career development.
- Ensures proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support team member and process development.
Requirements
- First-level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
- Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0–2 years of people management experience.

- Strong understanding of Java and ability to write high-quality code.
- Strong understanding of networking and switches.
- Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.
- Advanced project management skills, including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.

- Fluency in English and local language; mastery in communication (written, verbal, presentation).

Pay
The expected salary/wage range for this position varies by geographic location:
- California: Annual salary of USD 155,500 – 315,000 (base salary; variable incentives may also be offered).
- Minnesota, Texas, Wisconsin: Annual salary of USD 137,000 – 315,000 (base salary; variable incentives may also be offered).
