This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide guidance, support, and motivation to team members, fostering a productive work environment based on the Company values and behaviors of safety and quality, people focus, trust, ownership, and innovation.
    • Drive individual and team performance through the established Performance Management System (PMS).
    • Recognize and celebrate accomplishments, goals, and objectives.
    • Manage purchased direct parts.
    • Lead and manage a team of up to 20 employees.
  • Operational Management:
    • Manage daily activities within the area of responsibility, ensuring smooth workflows and timely execution of tasks.
    • Develop and monitor annual budget and spend.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, acquiring necessary and timely information, and monitoring performance.
    • Conduct supplier program reviews and supplier visits to ensure demand alignment.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing costs and waste.
  • Logistics Coordination:
    • Collaborate with the Logistics Organization on the movement of goods, including part prioritization to ensure efficient delivery of material to the site and work areas.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time part delivery, on-time supplier delivery, part shortages (focus on Category 3 and 5), Kit fill rate, and Lines of Balance (LOB).
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency within the supply chain.
    • Think outside the box to achieve quantum performance leaps.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Address and resolve issues that may arise in the supply chain, such as delays, disruptions, or quality issues.
    • Develop advance warning signals to mitigate potential issues.
    • Master Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments including operations, program, quality, and finance, to ensure alignment and effective coordination.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Supply Chain Professional and/or Management experience in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices, including logistics, procurement, inventory management, and demand planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Leadership and team management skills; ability to motivate and guide team members to achieve common goals.
  • Negotiation and contract management skills; ability to negotiate favorable outcomes and terms with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including supply chain management systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Experience working with multiple cross-functional groups.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to and interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effect change.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems; SAP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or other relevant course of study (preferred).
  • MBA or Master’s Degree (preferred).
  • Knowledge/experience with manufacturing and manufacturing processes (preferred).
  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or other industry certification (preferred).
  • Governance and Compliance background including experience with AS9100 or other external audits (preferred).
  • Experience in Aerospace (preferred).

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $97,800 – $149,950

Join Spirit AeroSystems’ Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet these requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
