About the role
This is a Manager-level individual contributor role within the Finance organization, dedicated to supporting Etsy’s Product and Engineering teams. You will lead through influence, operating as a key strategic counterpart to leaders who rely on you to bring clarity and accountability to how we measure and drive performance.
Responsibilities
- Own the complete financial and strategic narrative for product progress and performance measurement at Etsy
- Partner with Analytics and Product to develop business cases, track performance against goals, and synthesize data into executive-facing views that advise decisions
- Lead analyses to uncover performance gaps and adoption trends, translating findings into prioritized recommendations for product leadership
- Independently develop ROI analyses, cost-benefit frameworks, and payback models that shape roadmap prioritization—and track the end-to-end lifecycle of initiatives from investment through post-launch impact measurement
- Serve as the critical strategic advisor business partners, helping them evaluate trade-offs and scope initiatives
- Own the financial planning cycle for your area including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, long-range plans, and monthly P&L reporting
- Build and maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis, continuously improving processes for efficiency and scale
- Act as connective tissue between Analytics, Product, Finance leadership, and cross-functional partners—identifying strategic opportunities and surfacing insights proactively
- Guide senior leaders on resource allocation and strategic decisions, occasionally presenting at leadership meetings and playing a critical role in cross-functional workstreams
Requirements

Demonstrated experience shaping how teams think about and act on performance data and defining the narrative around metrics, investment returns, and product impact
Track record of operating as a trusted strategic counterpart to product and/or engineering leaders, with the ability to influence decisions without direct authority
Strong analytical and modeling skills: ability to independently lead sophisticated analyses, break problems into components, build models from scratch, and synthesize data into clear, compelling narratives for executive audiences
Excellent communication and storytelling: you regularly own standalone decks and present to senior leaders
Self-directed operator who thrives in ambiguity, independently identifies the highest-impact work, and drives workstreams to completion without waiting for direction
Experience as a dedicated finance or strategy partner to product and engineering teams, acting as their go-to strategic finance counterpart rather than a generalist supporting multiple departments

Experience with enterprise planning tools (Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Planful) and/or data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, Looker)
