About the Role

Southern Nuclear Operating Company’s Fleet Projects organization provides leadership to deliver solutions that improve project delivery, plant performance, and increase regulatory margin. We are seeking an experienced Site Projects Manager to oversee Site Project Leads, responsible for all aspects of the implementation phase of plant modifications for the station’s major projects. This role supports initiatives and priorities for the site and fleet, ensuring projects are safely executed on schedule, within authorized cost targets, and with consideration of nuclear, personnel, and radiological safety. The Site Projects Manager provides leadership, feedback, and direction to site project leads and team members and is a member of the Site Mid-level Management Team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain relationships across all levels of the organization, including executive management and external stakeholders such as the NRC and INPO.
  • Provide leadership to ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Oversee field implementation standards, work planning, work management, and procurement processes.
  • Manage union craft labor, labor bargaining units, contracts, and SNC leased labor policies.
  • Focus on plant risk elimination and mitigation strategies, including challenge meetings and post-work critiques.
  • Develop, support, and lead department/station initiatives.
  • Participate in the Plant Health Working Group (PHWG), Project Review Committee (PRC), and T-week work management meetings.
  • Interface with multiple departments, including Engineering, Vendors, SCS, Architectural Engineering firms, Supply Chain, and Financial Services.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, incorporating learnings from fleet and industry best practices.
  • Hire, develop, train, and manage a qualified, high-performing staff, including performance management, goal setting, and delegation.
  • Participate in external organizations for personal and professional development and implement leading practices within Fleet Projects.
  • Solve problems and make sound judgments using experience and risk evaluation tools to resolve issues impacting safety, plant performance, budget, and project execution.
  • Communicate issues and drive problem resolution through various levels of management.
  • Model and enforce Nuclear Safety, Industrial Safety, and Human Performance behaviors.
  • Make independent, prudent decisions and recognize when to elevate them.
  • Demonstrate leadership courage to challenge personnel to achieve high performance and excellent standards.
  • Commit to the success of employees, customers, and shareholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of nuclear power experience in Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, Work Management, or Operations (ten (10) years or more preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisor/manager position preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline strongly preferred; advanced degrees, Professional Engineer (PE) license, and other certifications will be considered based on experience.
  • Project Management certification (PMP) is a plus.
  • Current or previous projects experience preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Strong background in field implementation standards, work planning, work management, and procurement processes.
  • Working knowledge of union craft labor, labor bargaining units, contracts, and SNC leased labor policies.
  • Ability to assess risk at multiple levels and understand the consequences and impacts of actions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface, build, and sustain relationships with other departments.

Location & Logistics

Selected candidate must live within 75 minutes of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.
