Responsibilities
- Manage a team of consultants providing review and audit services to clients, identifying and pursuing tax recovery opportunities.
- Oversee ongoing projects and interactions between team members, clients, and taxing jurisdictions.
- Review and evaluate all aspects of an engagement, including making appeal recommendations and managing the appeal process.
- Create positive team member experiences to drive excellent client service, revenue, and profit.
- Lead team in developing project workplans and scheduling deliverables.
- Act as a mentor, guiding team members on their career paths.
- Build strong relationships with clients and firm leadership.
- Travel to client locations to gather information.
- Oversee the quality of work performed by the team for clients.
- Prepare and conduct client presentations.
- Assist with client billing and financial forecasting.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Defend client tax positions in court when necessary.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude, multitasking and adjusting to changing priorities.
- Manage complex income tax projects, especially in the Tax Accounting Methods area and other federal tax planning opportunities.
- Work effectively in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
- Handle tasks in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
- Safeguard confidential information and sensitive material.
- Utilize strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
- Review documentation and research issues as needed.
- Delegate work effectively among the team.
- Prepare Forms 3115 and statements required as project deliverables.
Requirements
- Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in a practice-relevant area.
- 3+ years of practice-relevant experience, including 1+ year of management experience (formal or informal).
- Expertise in U.S. Federal Income Tax and accounting for income taxes (ASC 740).
- Hands-on experience in both the preparation and review of domestic and international tax provisions for public and private companies.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and be a team player.
- Beginner’s knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
- Valid driver’s license.
Schedule
- Independent travel requirement: 30 to 40%.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
- Occasional long periods of standing while copying.
- Regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
This role may require managing direct reports and involves limited supervisory responsibilities, including training peers and checking work for accuracy and completeness.
