About the role
The Safety & Security Manager is a consultant to senior operations & sales leaders in the state and is responsible for staying up-to-date on all OSHA, DOT, and safety requirements. This role creates programs and/or project plans to comply with all regulations in the state, ensures local resources are identified, trained, and executing on all safety-related programs and policies, and manages Workers Compensation claims to reduce financial impact. Additionally, the position manages and reports all company vehicle accidents, working with the company insurance carrier to mitigate financial impact. The role ensures all aspects of the organization's security practices, procedures, and policies are implemented and adhered to for the safety and security of company interests. Strong relationship skills are required to partner with senior leaders, coordinate alignment with the National Safety Director, and collaborate with HR on employee issues.
Responsibilities
- Safety Training
- Identify local operations and sales leaders for the local safety committee in the state.
- Train each team member on safety responsibility.
- Conduct monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
- Coordinate and conduct monthly safety meetings for each division.
- Create processes to assign safety training programs for DOT and OSHA compliance.
- Security
- Create, manage, and monitor security policies and procedures.
- Act as a liaison with Federal, State, and local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Investigate, document, and maintain records of all security-related incidents.
- Administer and maintain security badge and entry systems for properties.
- Worker’s Compensation
- File and manage workers compensation claims for the state, ensuring compliance with all state regulations and federal laws such as FMLA and ADA.
- Conduct accident investigations.
- Maintain a current OSHA 300 log throughout the year.
- File the OSHA 300A report for each location at the end of the year.
- Partner with WC insurance adjusters, HR, and Legal to reduce the financial impact of claims and return associates to work.
- Conduct quarterly reviews with the insurance vendor.
- Liability
- Vehicle:
- File property, bodily injury, and vehicle claims with the insurance company for accidents involving company vehicles.
- Conduct accident investigations.
- Coordinate the insurance liability program in the state to ensure all associates in driving positions have appropriate coverage.
- Monitor MVR records of all associates in driving positions for violations, suspensions, or revoked licenses.
- General Liability:
- File property damage claims for company buildings and surrounding property.

- DOT Compliance:
- Educate Transportation leaders on DOT reporting requirements and ensure systems are in place for compliance.
- Conduct monthly reviews to assess DOT audit risk, implement corrective plans, and train leaders.
- Monitor the Green Roads program and address unacceptable driving consistently.
- Register for and attend several Safety Webinars throughout the year to stay updated on DOT compliance.
- OSHA Compliance:
- Implement processes in the state to comply with annual OSHA training requirements.
- Ensure all markets comply with OSHA requirements and follow established processes.
- Partner with leaders on OSHA investigations and respond to OSHA requests in the state.
- Conduct quarterly warehouse inspections, identify potential issues, and plan corrective actions with leadership.
- Create a first responder program, including CPR and first aid classes.
- Register for and attend several webinars throughout the year to stay updated on OSHA compliance.
- DOT Compliance:
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and/or security of a business.
- Work experience implementing safety programs in a fleet/operations environment.
- Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs, including presentation software.
- Results-oriented professional with strong verbal/written communication skills, diplomacy, discretion, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
- Analytic and reporting skills.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $79,800 - $108,150. This position is eligible to participate in a bonus program, with metrics and level of participation determined annually.
