About the role

The Project Safety Manager will support a data center project in Lytle, TX, ensuring safety across all aspects of site construction and operational startup. This role is critical to maintaining Rowan’s safety standards and culture, working closely with cross-functional teams and reporting to the Senior Regional Safety Manager.

Travel: 10-15% with occasional travel to Rowan Office locations for team gatherings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end construction safety for data center projects, from development to final delivery.
  • Monitor the safety of all site infrastructure, substation, and core/shell construction.
  • Ensure General Contractor compliance with Rowan’s Contractor Safety Management Program.
  • Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Procurement teams to ensure seamless project handoff and operational readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, evaluating construction processes, and implementing best practices.
  • Promote and enhance the Company’s safety culture through programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain and report EHS metrics for the project site.
  • Analyze and trend safety data, leading indicators, observations, incidents, and other EHS metrics to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support accident/incident investigation and analysis with the General Contractor to determine improvements.
  • Review and assist in developing safety plans, procedures, and strategies, ensuring consistency and adequacy.
  • Use radical transparency to drive safety culture, ensuring all observations, near misses, and incidents are documented and used for learning.
  • Build and improve policies, procedures, technology, and safety reporting platforms for workplace and construction site activities.
  • Regularly review and update existing policies to align with industry best practices.
  • Perform safety audits and inspect all work areas and jobsites to identify potential safety issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments to minimize accidents, occupational illnesses, or long-term health hazards.
  • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and partners to prepare monthly or annual safety reports for management.
  • Directly manage a team of 2 safety professionals.
  • Actively participate in site High Risk Activity (HRA) meetings.
  • Collaborate with the General Contractor to implement and drive Site Safety Steering Committees and worker safety observation programs (Good Catch/Positive Observation).

Requirements

  • 7+ years as a safety professional within a construction delivery organization; data center experience highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-specific field such as occupational health and safety or equivalent experience.
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety management desired, ideally from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), including:
    • Certified Safety Professional
    • Associate Safety Professional
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, both Construction and General Industry.
  • Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace.
  • Familiarity with electrical, cranes, trench & excavation preferred.
  • Experience in incident investigation, injury management, and hazard analysis.
  • Working knowledge of safety management software, such as Procore and Highwire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, trend, and translate safety data into actionable insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build working relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Bilingual is highly desired.

Pay

$110K–$125K (plus bonus and variables).

Schedule

This role will be 100% onsite in Lytle, TX.
