Position Summary

The Manager, Responsible Business Operations & Governance, is a key operational leader responsible for driving Responsible Business and ESG initiatives through governance, regulatory readiness, stakeholder engagement, and strategic program execution. This role partners closely with Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Marketing, Communications, and Operations to support sustainability reporting, ESG governance, corporate responsibility initiatives, and enterprise-wide business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate Responsible Business and ESG initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Manage governance processes, project plans, workstreams, action trackers, reporting, and executive communications.
  • Sustain sustainability reporting, ESG governance, regulatory readiness, and corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies, procedures, operational processes, and supporting documentation.
  • Cook up cross-functional teams, executive stakeholders, consultants, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare executive presentations, leadership briefings, governance materials, and project updates.
  • Review sustainability-related marketing materials, public communications, and documentation to ensure compliance with Responsible Business standards.
  • Support customer sustainability requests, supplier responsibility initiatives, ratings agency activities, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Cook up strategic sustainability initiatives involving renewable energy, carbon credits, clean energy procurement, and related ESG programs.
  • Drive business operations, including budgets, contracts, consultants, vendors, invoices, purchase orders, and administrative processes.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to enhance governance, operational effectiveness, and program execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Policy, Communications, Sustainability, Project Management, Organizational Leadership, Finance, Legal Studies, Environmental Studies, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, program/project management, business operations, governance, consulting, communications, compliance, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional initiatives involving executive stakeholders, organizational change, and multiple workstreams.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership through governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, and program execution.
  • Experience developing governance processes, policies, procedures, operational frameworks, or program management methodologies.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, consultants, vendors, invoices, purchase orders, and other business operations activities.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG regulations, sustainability reporting, corporate responsibility, governance, and compliance.
  • Experience managing multiple ESG initiatives while supporting business operations and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting ESG, sustainability, climate, corporate responsibility, governance, compliance, community engagement, or supplier responsibility initiatives.
  • Previous experience as an ESG Analyst, Sustainability Analyst, ESG Consultant, or in a Corporate Sustainability or Responsible Business function.
  • Experience in consulting, PMO, business operations, enterprise governance, strategy & operations, or program leadership roles.
  • Big Four consulting experience (Deloitte, EY, PwC, or KPMG) is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting, climate disclosures, greenhouse gas accounting, supply chain due diligence, and ESG regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), carbon credits, renewable energy procurement, and clean energy strategies.
  • Experience reviewing ESG or sustainability-related marketing and communications content.
  • Experience supporting customer sustainability requests, supplier engagement, ratings agencies, policy development, and stakeholder management.
