Manager Research Project A (Hybrid Eligible) (Dept. of Neurology)

This position is hybrid-eligible, with a work week divided between onsite and remote work, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

About the Role

This position will serve as a resource for best practices in managing major clinical trials, providing guidance for both study and device trials. The Project Manager will oversee a multi-site investigator-initiated study, including budget management and site coordination. The role involves acting as a liaison between the investigational team, nursing units, and sponsors, as well as supporting the implementation of new clinical trials.

This position is essential to the success of the Penn MS and Related Disorders Translational Research Program, which currently manages a portfolio of over 30 studies. The role ensures the research team can effectively care for research subjects, including providing access to necessary infusion medications, while contributing significantly to the department’s budget through grant funding.

Responsibilities

• Manage a multi-site investigator-initiated study, including oversight of budgets and coordination of sites.
• Serve as a liaison for departmental interactions, including the investigational team, nursing units, and sponsors.
• Oversee the implementation of new clinical trials and review them to identify challenges and opportunities.
• Problem-solve challenges and develop action plans in collaboration with the regulatory manager to ensure timely IRB submissions.
• Supervise trial execution with staff to ensure protocol adherence, compliance, and enrollment.
• Audit trials for compliance, data accuracy, completeness, and adverse event management.
• Take an active role in preparing for trial audits and inspections, including supervising any inspections.
• Provide monthly updates to the research team and director.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background check required after a conditional job offer is made.
• COVID-19 vaccination or a University-authorized exemption is required.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based, with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
• Typically involves sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent standing, walking, or stooping.

Pay

Salary range: $51,824.00 - $78,096.00. Offers are made based on candidate qualifications, experience, skills, education, internal and market factors, and grade profile.
