About the role

The Manager Research Opportunities plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth and success of public health research within the School of Public Health (SPH). Reporting to the Director Network Research Resources, this position is integral to identifying funding opportunities, managing resources effectively, and cultivating meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a support system to identify research funding opportunities for SPH faculty.
  • Conducts landscape assessments of public health opportunities among funding organizations, including federal, state, and local agencies, that align with faculty research expertise or SPH priorities.
  • Develops and manages a strategic funding opportunity pipeline aligned with SPH priorities; monitor trends in federal, foundation, and industry funding to proactively position faculty for competitive opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Director of Research Development in developing proposals and prospectuses to articulate compelling research to external partners, including drafting, editing, and refining content, to align with funding opportunities requirements.
  • Collaborates on the proposal development process, establishing timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and supporting high-quality, competitive submissions.
  • Maintains partnership with internal teams (e.g., researchers, communications) and external partners (funding agencies, academic collaborators, industry partners) to achieve shared research goals.
  • Designs and supports training workshops, resources, and one-on-one consultations to strengthen faculty grant-writing capacity and competitiveness.
  • Maintains excellent communications with SPH faculty, university advancement, and research development leads and serves as a liaison in ensuring coordinated efforts that align SPH and university strategic priorities.
  • Contributes to the school’s strategic public health research goals by assisting in the development of strategies and initiatives that align research activities with the organization's overall objectives and promote a culture of innovation.

Requirements

Relevant Experience (5 Years)
