Manager, Research Administration

Core Job Summary

The ORA Manager, Research Administration supports the research mission of the University of Miami and the goals of the Office of Research Administration (ORA). This position is an integral partner in a sponsored programs administration team that manages service and provides guidance and direction to specific UM departments, schools, and Centers/Institutes on all post award administration functions, from award set up to award close-out.

Core Job Functions

• Oversees sponsored compliance to ensure terms and conditions are respected and adhered to.
• Recruits, trains, and mentors department staff to develop talent and improve performance.
• Maintains accuracy, timeliness, customer service, and other related metrics of team performance.
• Implements approved operational plans that are consistent with strategic business objectives.
• Maintains oversight of all elements of post-award activity, including award set up, budget, expense review, effort reporting, reconciliations, closeout, audit, compliance, and ensures that payments for research activities and funding for new projects are timely.
• Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
• Serves as the liaison between the faculty, academic departments and research centers, campus administrative units and a wide variety of federal, state, local and private funding agencies.
