About the Role
The Manager, Regulatory & Technical Affairs supports regulatory and technical affairs initiatives, including state and federal regulatory response development, monitoring trends, coordinating internal workflows, and assisting with association policies. This role also engages members and supports the regulatory affairs team in day-to-day functions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, track, and assess federal and state legislation, regulation, emerging policies, and issues impacting the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, including FDA, EPA, and USDA matters.
- Support the regulatory affairs team in gathering research, industry insights, and engaging with regulatory agencies and members on priority topics, particularly microbiology.
- Monitor communications and meetings from regulatory agencies, partnerships, and advocacy groups; attend meetings and summarize key takeaways.
- Identify opportunities to enhance regulatory advocacy through communication tools, educational opportunities, or other services.
- Represent the association and its policy positions at industry meetings and events.
- Work directly with members to gain insights on research, trends, and issues related to the CPG industry.
- Develop and disseminate updates, research summaries, technical briefs, decision documents, educational materials, and issue-related information to members.
- Track and monitor federal and state developments and trends in food safety regulations and guidance.
- Assist in developing written and oral responses on federal and state actions.
- Serve as a technical specialist on food safety issues impacting the CPG industry.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, toxicology, food science, or related life science (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2–5 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated interest in regulatory and technical affairs, especially as they relate to public policy.

Pay
Salary range: $85,000–$95,000. Final offer placement within this range is determined by experience, expertise, education, certifications, internal equity, and market data.
