About the role

Under the direction of the Site Director, the Manager of Radiation Oncology Services is responsible for the organization and development of high-performing teams and oversight of all technical, clinical, and clinical support services personnel (e.g., radiation therapists, nursing, clerical). The manager is accountable for meeting operational, financial, and quality objectives, identifying opportunities to implement best practices, and introducing innovations to improve care across the continuum. The role involves collaborating with local hospital leadership and Oncology Network Care Transformation Services to enhance patient outcomes and position HMH’s oncology program for success in value-based care.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements safety procedures, staff education, and radiation therapy training.
  • Ensures high-quality radiation services for inpatients, outpatients, and employees, maintaining consistent standards across all locations.
  • Assures departmental services comply with medical staff standards and state, local, federal, and regulatory agency requirements; prepares and maintains licensing records.
  • Ensures all accreditation standards are met.
  • Develops competencies and ensures training for radiation therapists; verifies current NJ DOH licenses and ARRT certification.
  • Maintains technical and clinical proficiency of radiation therapists through hands-on guidance and procedural training.
  • Monitors and practices infection control measures as outlined by the infection control department.
  • Builds strong partnerships with staff, patients, families, and physicians to improve programs, outcomes, and satisfaction.
  • Assists the radiation safety officer in recommending and maintaining technical aspects of radiation safety, including records for personal exposure, dose calibration, and equipment maintenance.
  • Represents the department at administrative conferences, committees, and seminars.
  • Identifies and addresses the needs of diverse patient populations (e.g., age, culture, language, sensory impairments).
  • Adheres to Medical Center’s Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
  • Manages recruitment, development, and supervision of team members; fosters engagement and sets clear objectives tied to strategic goals.
  • Represents the department on interdisciplinary committees such as Radiation Safety, Leadership, and Operations.
  • Develops and manages budgets for assigned areas; monitors financial indicators and adjusts business activities as needed.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant data and metrics; recommends and implements process improvements.
  • Maintains network-level contracts for radiation therapy equipment (hardware and software) across multiple sites (RMC, JSUMC, OMC, SOMC).
  • Coordinates staffing across sites to ensure efficient utilization of radiation therapists and arranges coverage as needed.
  • Conducts yearly performance appraisals for staff.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Current New Jersey license as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.
  • Registered by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management (preferred).
  • Previous management experience (preferred).

Pay

Minimum annual salary: $126,464.00. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions include a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Certain roles may also be eligible for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
