Manager - Quotations
As a Manager – Quotations, you will manage a team responsible for developing proposals, bids, quotations, or other documents describing organizational products and services in response to requests from prospective clients. You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, or product teams to ensure content is complete, accurate, and timely. You will recommend enhancements to the organization's products or services based on inquiries from prospects and provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Leads quotation department and project quotation activities by setting goals for the work group, managing execution, measuring results, and working with sales generation to identify potential projects for bid.
- Manages and develops quotations staff, defines each employee’s primary and secondary responsibilities, and manages performance and collaboration within the group.
- Reads and interprets specifications and communicates with suppliers to discuss material specifications, clarifies and confirms bill of materials, negotiates pricing, and identifies alternatives for special or custom orders.
- Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with selected suppliers, coordinating pricing negotiations in line with good commercial policies.
- Coordinates receipt of information for preparation of final quotation submittal.
- Communicates with customers to resolve problems with projects during the bidding process.
- Follows up with account representatives, account executives, and inside sales representatives to ensure quotes and resulting orders are complete.
- Monitors and oversees transition to project management and sales execution teams after acceptance of quotation.
- May identify new sales opportunities within the current customer base.
Requirements
- High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience in large capital project quotations (5 years preferred).
- 3 years of experience in departmental management (5 years preferred).
- Broad knowledge of product line and pricing.
- Ability to work with customers and factory representatives to obtain pricing information and cooperation.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Strong computer and mathematical skills.
- Ability to research market and inventory positions to support sales staff in maximizing margins.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Pay
$86,145 - $107,681 annually. This amount reflects the range Wesco reasonably believes it will pay for the position, though final offers may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or collective bargaining agreements. Eligible positions may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, and certain sales roles may offer a commission structure based on sales results.
