About the role
Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Quality Manager to lead and develop QA teams supporting site, customer, and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will manage certifications, failure analysis, reliability activities, supply chain monitoring, and process engineering.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop QA teams to support site quality systems, certifications, and industry standards.
- Coordinate customer failure analysis, create 8D reports, implement corrective/preventive actions for returns and complaints.
- Lead reliability activities during new product introduction, qualification planning, and MTBF/FIT calculations.
- Perform in-process inspections, MRB fault analysis, root cause analysis, and CAPA.
- Develop and implement new processes, document them, and train personnel.
- Train and certify operators on ESD and FOD programs, and provide IPC-610 and J-STD-001 quality requirements.
- Maintain and develop procedures to improve product and process quality.
- Support NPI activities, create Quality Plans, set Key Characteristics (KC), and educate on Risk (FMEA).
- Supervise, coach, and develop quality teams, monitor GMP and KPIs, and engage with customers.
- Facilitate continual improvement and learning culture through training and communication of quality initiatives.
- Manage FTS Quality Engineering Groups in Beverly, Boulder, and San Jose.
Requirements
- 10+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of managing and supervisory experience.
- Four-year degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience in developing, training, and mentoring quality and manufacturing personnel.
- Proven experience in applying Six Sigma and 8D methodologies and tools.
- Experience in using and implementing LEAN tools and strategies.
- Full understanding of the audit process, including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ensure products adhere to legal and safety standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to details.
- Data analysis and statistical aptitude.
Desirable
- Familiarity with frequency control products and related military performance specifications and standards.
- PCB manufacturing experience, SMT and Through hole Systems and module manufacturing.
- Knowledge of reliability and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, assessment tools, and reporting.
- User experience with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access.
- Six sigma Green Belt, Black Belt.
- Working knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft AX, Agile.
