Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a home-based QC lab and provides overall QC leadership support for a designated region for multiple labs.
  • Supports corporate initiatives for QC improvement and overall operations improvement to produce high-quality products efficiently. Ensures all plants are audit- and inspection-ready at all times.
  • Identifies and leads Process Improvement initiatives within the assigned region.
  • Develops rapport with Plant, QA manager, and R&D personnel. Coordinates QA efforts with R&D and vice versa.
  • Works with R&D to ensure manufacturing and raw material specifications exist, are current, and are enforced.
  • Develops and maintains a specific QA/QC SOP manual for each plant in the assigned region.
  • Performs process improvement assessments on selected locations (Quality Improvement Program - QIP).
  • Troubleshoots problems associated with finished product production in assigned facilities; investigates root cause, develops and implements corrective actions, and prevents reoccurrence through long-term solutions.
  • Installs appropriate controls, sample plans, hold/release system modifications, code rotation, batching and processing controls, and other production systems where problems might exist.
  • Understands vague and implicit instructions and reacts favorably in all work situations.
  • Mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Gives, receives, and analyzes information, formulates work plans, and prepares written materials and articulates goals and action plans. Understands people and communicates effectively.
  • Performs simple math calculations, inputs data into a computer, and analyzes data.
  • Proficient knowledge of work instructions, procedures, and calibration of QC instrumentation referenced in the LATICRETE Quality Control Manual.
  • Ensures all business processes for recording lab testing results are efficient and up-to-date across plants.
  • Leads the implementation of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) across plants along with 5S methods for laboratory organization and leads training of QC personnel.
  • Leads the training of department personnel in Quality Control procedures and updates QC procedures as needed.
  • Ensures all Certificates of Analysis (CoA), MSDS, Calibration/Verification meet ISO 9001 traceability across plants.
  • Strong technical knowledge of chemistry in cementitious chemistry, epoxy liquids, latex, and/or any LATICRETE product lines.
  • Provides improvements for QC lab workflow, testing, and other QC-related activities.
  • Expert knowledge of all QC procedures and ability to perform tests as needed.
  • Performs other directly related duties and assumes accountabilities as delegated.

Requirements

  • 10 years QC laboratory experience preferred.
  • 5–10 years supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced computer/technical skills, including experience with Access, ACT, Excel, and Word. ERP software experience a plus.
  • Excellent organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Good verbal, written, and math skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of participating in Quality Control and Environmental Safety Organizations.
  • Physical ability to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Organized and meticulous.
  • Must be a leader.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible.

Qualifications

Typically requires a High School Diploma and BS or equivalent certifications and/or experience.
