The QA Manager oversees multiple teams focused on continuously improving the quality of Availity’s product line by preventing, detecting, and validating product and process defects to deliver market- and customer-driven results. In this role, you will evaluate test results, prepare change requests, and generate measures to assess product quality while collaborating with developers, product managers, and system analysts for test planning, automation, and execution.

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple Agile teams in executing and improving quality processes at Availity.
- Oversee program-level quality planning, staffing assignments, coaching, and team management.
- Lead test planning, execution, and cross-organizational collaboration to ensure quality-driven outcomes.
- Focus on team growth while driving best-in-class quality program deliverables.
- Drive test automation initiatives and leverage AI to accelerate organizational and individual efficiencies.
- Demonstrate ownership for product quality and team advancement.
- Attend Agile ceremonies, mentor QA analysts/engineers, approve PTO requests, and assist with recruitment and onboarding.
- Collect data for the Quality Organization and act as an escalation point for team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in business and/or systems testing.
- 3+ years of experience leading technical engineering efforts involving implementation and management of IT systems.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams and delivering products in an Agile environment, including managing high-performing lead-level roles.
- Prior experience as a QA Supervisor/Manager.
- Expert understanding of testing techniques, including functional, integration, performance, and regression testing.
- Proven success defining quality strategy, standards, and governance that influence stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Experience owning hiring decisions, performance management, and career development for QA analysts/engineers.
- Strategic resourcing, headcount, and capacity planning across multiple teams and competing priorities.
- Working knowledge of test management tools and automated testing tools (e.g., test case management, execution reporting, defect tracking).
- Cross-functional leadership and influence, acting as a bridge between product, engineering, and quality.
- Strong organizational skills, including project tracking, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Contribution to a culture of recognition and accountability (e.g., supporting fair recognition and honest performance feedback).
- Healthcare industry experience is a bonus.
Skills
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, C# (or similar languages for test automation and tooling).
- Hands-on experience with Cucumber and Selenium WebDriver for reviewing, modifying, and troubleshooting automation code.
- Comfort working within an IDE (VS Code, Eclipse, or similar) to run, debug, and maintain automated tests.
- Experience with Agile work planning tools (JIRA or similar for backlog management, sprint planning, and work tracking).
- Source-control change management software (GitLab, Git, or similar Git-based systems).
- Test management software (TestRail or similar).
- Continuous integration tools (GitLab CI for pipeline execution and test integration).
- Application performance management (New Relic, Splunk, or similar monitoring and observability tools).
- Database validation (SQL/MySQL for backend validation, test data verification, and defect analysis).
- Understanding of cloud concepts (AWS, Azure, including environments, deployments, and cloud-hosted architectures).
- Strong problem-solving skills, including analyzing test failures, logs, stack traces, and CI pipeline output.
AI as an Efficiency Multiplier
- Experience using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., Amazon Q Developer, Kiro, Copilot-style tools) to accelerate drafting test scenarios, generating automation scaffolding, refactoring code, and debugging failures—with human verification and sound engineering judgment.
- Ability to create lightweight efficiency tools (scripts, helpers, utilities) using AI to improve team throughput and streamline reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others on practical AI usage, including prompting discipline, validation habits, and safe application to day-to-day QA work.
- Comfort using AI to summarize meetings, objectives, test logs, and code failures, propose fixes, and speed up analysis—while ensuring outputs are explainable and verified before adoption.
