Job Summary

Invitation Homes is a publicly traded REIT with over 100,000 single family rental homes and a market capitalization of over $17 billion. We seek a Property Accounting Manager to lead a team responsible for financial reporting for approximately 100,000 properties.

About the Role

Lead, motivate, and develop a team of accounting professionals by providing coaching, training, and mentorship through the hiring of top talent. Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met while ensuring accurate and timely preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements. Review and approve work completed by accounting associates for accuracy and completeness in accordance with established policies and procedures. Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Asset Management, and other stakeholders to understand business drivers and their impact on financial results. Drive process optimization and scalability, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and controls in a high-volume environment. Support internal and external audit requests, including SOX Compliance, Internal Controls, and annual financial statement audits. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in Company-provided training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is required.
  • Property Accounting experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Intermediate Excel expertise required; Yardi experience a plus.
  • Experience working with high volumes of data.

  • Ability to set and meet goals and consistently meet deadlines.

Other Requirements

  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Able to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; overtime may be required for this position.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • May also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds.
  • Ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $79,987.50 - $138,645.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
