About the role

Proactively plans, coordinates, and drives projects to ensure they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget, and safety standards while meeting brand guidelines. This role involves liaising with Brand operating department representatives involved in the Revitalization of a ship, including Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment, and shipyards. Typical assignments include ship projects such as Revitalizations and Refurbishment projects.

Responsibilities

• Confer with matrixed constituent department representatives and vendors to outline milestones, establish work plans, responsibilities, scope, and tracking routines.
• Follow up on team members to meet project deadlines and provide input on team member activities for the schedule review process.
• Manage vendors, ensuring they meet time, budget, safety, and brand guidelines.
• Coordinate activities to ensure the project progresses on schedule and accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses.
• Manage and coordinate at a high level all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies.
• Communicate project plan status regularly to the project team and stakeholders.
• Establish goals and analyze project work processes.
• Track timing, budget, cost control, and reporting.
• Utilize project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope; manage customer expectations and maintain focus.
• Perform other duties as required.

Financial Responsibilities

Responsible for a portfolio of projects valued at approximately $10-50 million.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or years of equivalent experience.
• B.S. in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture highly desired, and/or an architectural degree to ensure competence in multiple types of shipboard project work, including all technical installations and interior outfitting.
• Institute of Marine Engineers/Naval Architects or similar background preferred.
• 7+ years of experience supporting technical projects, shipbuilding, or ship revitalization.
• Experience in managing end-to-end project delivery, from contracting, planning, and overseeing execution of planned activities per defined scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards.
• Experience in project risk management: able to identify, analyze, and respond to project risks in a timely manner.
• Familiarity with design and construction execution processes, including the ability to understand and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, sections, elevations, and details.
• Familiarity with sourcing, procurement, and logistics procedures of a large and/or global organization.
• Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Suite, MS Project or related project management software, and AutoCAD.
• Internet and email literate with the ability to send, receive, and attach files as required.
• Must be able to travel internationally.

• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, financial, and spreadsheet modeling skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Work in shipyards during project executions with very basic accommodations.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a PC, communicate, listen, and assess information.
• May move about the office complex, travel to other office locations, and lift, push, pull, or move 10-15 pounds.
• Occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend, and descend the vessel.
• Regular travel domestically or internationally, with up to 35% travel required to support project development, vendor visits to vessels, and site teams at locations shortly before and during all projects. Travel may be required for up to 60 consecutive days.
• Visual requirements include distant, close, and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment includes inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, domestic and international travel, and work in shipboard functions. High noise levels are possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
