About the Role

The Production Manager oversees and directs Production Supervisors, collaborates with the Shipping Department and Master Scheduler to ensure the Dallas facility meets customer ship dates and times, and ensures raw materials are available, work order packets are assembled, and finished product is accurate. This role also ensures accurate processing and accounting of all inbound and outbound product movements and strict adherence to production standards, Standard Operating Procedures, and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the successful and on-time completion of all scheduled work orders with Production Supervisors.
  • Ensure resources are used efficiently to meet or exceed production goals.
  • Work closely with the Master Scheduler to ensure 100% on-time delivery of products.
  • Oversee movements of raw materials and finished goods to and from the production floor and shipping department, ensuring accuracy of product counts.
  • Track and maintain inventory control; make corrections to raw materials and finished goods in the AS400 system.
  • Collaborate with inbound and outbound coordinators to ensure components are received and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Create the daily production schedule and assemble/distribute work order packets to the production floor.
  • Modify work order structures based on substitution needs and product availability.
  • Create work orders and prework orders as needed; review and correct the Operator Screen Editor.
  • Schedule resources for moving components to other facilities and receiving inbound shippers and containers.
  • Review all component needs required for production and packaging of work orders; delegate work orders to appropriate work centers.
  • Maintain various reports required by the GM of the Dallas Plant.
  • Participate in Human Relations issues within the defined area of responsibility.
  • Prepare performance evaluations of direct reports, provide counseling on performance improvement, and enforce company systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Notify the GM, Master Scheduler, and Maintenance Manager of any production issues.
  • Communicate daily with appropriate parties regarding changes, inventory issues, supply issues, or procedural issues.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proficient in MS Office and PC literate.
  • Strong math skills.

Physical Demands

  • Able to occasionally carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to stand or ambulate for 8 hours a day.
  • Experience operating a pallet jack; material handling equipment experience preferred.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboard functions.
