About the role
We are looking for an organized self-starter to join our team as a 2nd shift Production Manager for Heat Treat and Bevel Gears at building KK, in East Peoria, IL. As a production manager, you will be leading a group of machine operators to drive improvement in a very dynamic and exciting work environment. You will have up to 25+ direct report team members.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and improve shop floor safety, aggressively eliminating unsafe processes
- Assure fixtures, tooling, and processes are followed to meet production schedules
- Determine priorities and sequence jobs
- Schedule and prioritize constrained resources, and adjust staff to meet flow and customer requirements
- Determine and execute disciplinary action when appropriate
- Ensure production material is procured and distributed to meet production schedules
- Increase production efficiency through continuous improvement and waste elimination utilizing LEAN principles
- Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, and others
- Evaluate, assess, identify, and lead the deployment of workforce training
- Actively deploy value stream improvements
- Practice and teach CPS Guiding Principles
- Initiate and conduct process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members
- Drive root cause corrective action projects and continuous improvement
- Lead section status reporting and monitor/audit section metrics
- Lead the creation, implementation, and training of standard work procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience desired
Skills
- Problem Solving: Ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve operational or process issues using structured problem-solving methods
- Performance Management: Ability to coach, develop, and hold individuals and teams accountable for performance expectations and improvement plans
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze situations, evaluate options, and make timely decisions based on facts, metrics, and informed judgment
- Effective Communications: Ability to clearly communicate priorities, expectations, risks, and results across teams, shifts, and leadership levels
Top candidates will also have:
- Prior leadership experience
- Strong customer focus and ability to influence and lead hourly direct reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
- Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Previous manufacturing or heat treat operations experience
- Experience with Lean manufacturing
- Project management skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret various types of data to make informed decisions
Schedule
- Located onsite 5 days a week in East Peoria, IL (Building KK) working 2nd shift (2:30 PM to 10:30 PM)
- Flexibility to work overtime, including daily and weekend hours, as needed to support production schedules, customer commitments, and business requirements
- May require less than 10% travel
Pay
Pay range: $89,210.00 - $133,810.00
