About the role
The Manager, Product Development will own formulation development projects for Atticus LLC, working closely with manufacturing, sourcing, and development partners both domestically and internationally. Key responsibilities include managing formulation validation activities, ensuring regulatory alignment and EPA submission preparation, overseeing technology transfer and scale-up, and supporting commercialization of new products.
Responsibilities
- Owns formulation development projects for certain market segments (US Domestic or with offshore manufacturing/sourcing/development partners)
- Works with Development Laboratories to ensure final product matches reference products, including tank mixes and custom blends for seed treatment products
- Provides guidance to laboratories on formulation types, including CS formulations and blends of AI’s with or on fertilizer
- Sources reference samples for reverse engineering
- Maintains project details and timelines within Smartsheet for accurate tracking and communication with stakeholders
- Prepares Development CSF and SDS’ necessary for EPA registration upon final formulation
- Arranges sample preparation for GLP, Tox, and Seed Safety studies and sends samples to appropriate locations
- Confirms inert ingredients are approved by EPA for use in pesticide formulations
- Provides inert guidance to development labs outside of USA on use of EPA approved ingredients during development process
- Coordinates pilot production runs with Operations
- Manages and facilitates post-Pilot testing of samples at appropriate development lab and adjusts Manufacturing Manual as appropriate
- Manages and facilitates sample shipment requests for internal and external customers
- Supports creation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Supports commercialization of new products and change management of existing products
- Works with Operations to maintain and approve Manufacturing Manuals, including procedures and product specifications
- Coordinates efforts with labs and Operations to resolve quality complaints
- Works with Operations and Procurement on cost reduction efforts and/or sourcing initiatives that lead to testing and approval of alternate ingredients
- Manages testing of alternate ingredients with labs and coordinates CSF updates with Regulatory Team
- Supports and coordinates formulation testing for trait technology listings (e.g., Enlist, XtendiMax, Engenia, etc.) as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in business, supply chain management, technical discipline or equivalent focus required, advanced degree preferred
- Five to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in agriculture or chemical field
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proactive communication skills
- Ability to network within the organization as well as with external parties
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Exceeds customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail
- Demonstrates leadership skills in driving change and improving the integrity of applicable processes and systems
- Able to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams, under critical timelines and while balancing the needs of internal and external customers
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills
Qualifications
