Manager, Product Design

About the role

Capital One is building a leading information‑based technology company and is seeking a Manager of Product Design to lead Partner Experiences in the Global Payment Network. The Global Payments Network includes Discover®, Diners Club International® and PULSE® and processes billions of transactions annually. The Experience Design team focuses on enriching customers’ digital and physical experiences while fostering collaboration, authenticity, and a culture of belonging.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high‑level product design expertise across interaction, visual, and service design, creating journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs, and prototypes.
• Lead design projects, delegate work to junior team members, and mentor to mature the product design practice.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders, incorporating data, research insights, scalability, and technical constraints to deliver customer‑centered and inclusive solutions.
• Apply business acumen to translate market trends, competitor analysis, and customer insights into strategic product directions.
• Leverage technical and data capabilities, as well as emerging technologies, to solve complex problems and accelerate delivery.
• Foster collaboration across lines of business, sharing solutions and integrating diverse perspectives into product strategy.
• Communicate design concepts and rationale to senior leaders using human‑centered frameworks, data, and research to influence strategic decisions.

Basic Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role.
• At least 5 years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role.
• At least 6 years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Experience contributing to an established design system.
• Experience collaborating with product, technology, and business partners.
• Experience leading design projects or teams.
• Experience working in heavily regulated, data‑heavy problem spaces.

Pay

• McLean, VA: $164,800 – $188,100 (Manager, Design)
• Richmond, VA: $149,800 – $171,000 (Manager, Design)
• New York, NY: $179,700 – $205,100 (Manager, Design)
• Other locations: salary range will align with local market and be reflected in the offer letter.
• Eligibility for performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
