Business Unit Description

Driven by Enovis’ desire to create innovative products that help improve quality of life and restore movement to those suffering from degenerative arthritis, Enovis Surgical® provides orthopedic surgeons with modern, patient-focused solutions for total joint arthroplasty. Partnerships with key surgeon consultants help provide advanced and proprietary patented solutions, including EMPOWR 3D Knee®, the only dual-pivot knee system on the market, and AltiVate Reverse® Shoulder, a market-leading system. Enovis Surgical offers surgeons and their patients a full range of primary and revision implants for hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow reconstructive joint surgeries, in addition to the tools and digital health technology needed in today’s changing healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of NPI Manufacturing Engineers and technicians responsible for launching new products.
  • Serve as a cross-functional team member as the primary process and manufacturing expert on new product introduction.
  • Guide teams to assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and innovate and implement process improvements on new development projects.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation.
  • Execute the functional deliverables associated with CAPA, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
  • Guide the team to plan, organize, and conduct all aspects of manufacturing technical reviews.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements (e.g., BOMs, Routers, FMEAs).
  • Write and review validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes.
  • Oversee development builds associated with the project using technical work requests.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
  • Convey the process and manufacturing limits and capabilities to the development team.
  • Contribute ideas to or generate Intellectual Property submissions.
  • Train manufacturing personnel when required as part of a validation.
  • Participate in lean reviews and Kaizen events.
  • Coach Engineers and Technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, BSME, or related Engineering Degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a process/manufacturing engineering role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing an engineering team.
  • Experience with Measurement Systems (CMMs, Vision Inspection, and Profilometers).
  • Experience with GD&T.
  • Experience with data analysis (Minitab) preferred.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean Manufacturing, and Process Control Concepts, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Validation, and product/process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Use of Problem Solving and Process Improvement Methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, DMAIC).
  • Experience with CAD Software: SolidWorks, MasterCAM.
  • Master’s degree in engineering and/or metals/plastics machining/additive manufacturing experience a plus.
