About the role

The Manager, Print Services oversees all aspects of the University’s print shop, including retail and financial management, physical and online facilities. This role sets the vision, provides leadership, and ensures innovative services both in-store and online to deliver exemplary customer service and sound financial practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operations (40%)
    • Manages equipment leases, maintenance, and inventory, point-of-sale systems, vendor relationships, and safety audits.
    • Provides day-to-day operational management of the campus print shop and satellite operations, including delivery services.
    • Maintains and enforces health, safety, and service standards, including University policies and procedures.
    • Collaborates with campus constituents to determine service needs.
    • Creates and maintains required logs, records, files, and reports.
    • Develops working knowledge of all duties and provides position relief as needed.
  • Outreach and Communications (20%)
    • Improves outreach on- and off-campus to increase sales.
    • Establishes effective partnerships and maintains positive communications for human relations management and customer satisfaction.
    • Researches product trends and develops innovative offerings.
    • Leads development of marketing materials and promotional events.
    • Projects a positive image to promote print services.
    • Develops diverse revenue streams.
  • Supervision (20%)
    • Provides vision, leadership, and management for print services, ensuring a safe, efficient operation and fostering teamwork.
    • Sets employee performance expectations and communicates instructions with follow-through.
    • Establishes and maintains policies, procedures, and standards for quality, service, safety, and cleanliness.
    • Oversees scheduling, payroll, and disciplinary procedures.
    • Manages staff, ensures training programs, and provides coaching and guidance.
    • Encourages professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Financial Administration (20%)
    • Manages billing following established procedures.
    • Helps develop and manage the annual budget and monthly income projections.
    • Monitors and forecasts budgets.
    • Adheres to financial goals by controlling expenses.
    • Produces and reviews monthly reports, including profit and loss statements, financial analyses, and benchmarking data.
    • Maintains responsibility for all financial assets, including equipment, receivables, physical inventory, and petty cash.
    • Manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledgers, closing books monthly.

Supervision

Supervises, hires, trains, schedules, and provides work direction and problem-solving assistance for full- and part-time employees (1-10 staff) and student workers (1-10). Conducts performance reviews, recommends salary increases, promotions, and terminations.

Working Conditions

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Must safely use and operate typical printing tools and equipment. Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Designated non-essential personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience.
  • Five years’ experience in managing a print center; college or university environment preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in sales or account management.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Current Virginia driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.

Schedule

Full-time; Exempt position. Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Pay

Pay Grade 7 ($58,011 to $76,877 annually).
