About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the plant quality assurance function as directed. The role will be posted for a minimum of 3 days and may remain open longer based on the volume of applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating safety meetings, conducting inspections, and investigating accidents.
  • Train and certify in the food safety system and oversee its development, implementation, review, and maintenance.
  • Direct and coordinate quality assurance activities within the plant and its interfaces with the group office.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, methods, facilities, and equipment to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a customer relations program in plant matters related to quality.
  • Implement quality training and development programs to ensure the competence and technical skills of the plant quality assurance department.
  • Analyze quality areas, including setting quality goals, addressing quality problems, managing defective materials, handling claims, and addressing customer quality issues.
  • Inform plant management and the manufacturing department of the results of quality analysis.
  • Manage the application and administration of the Infinity system within the plant, if applicable.
  • Collaborate with material suppliers on quality issues and cost reduction strategies.
  • Administer customer and vendor claim reimbursement systems.
  • Provide leak awareness training to customers.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from computers.
  • Initiate, review, master, and follow SOPs for the assigned area.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment, minimizing personal conflicts.
  • Handle stress and interact with others to establish a positive work environment.
  • Work weekends and varying hours as directed by management.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies by understanding and following emergency procedures, equipment, and systems.
  • Implement contingency plans to address root cause findings.
  • Coordinate customer, corporate, and cross-departmental trials at the plant.
  • Lead quality investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Oversee the Hold for Inspection (HFI) and embargo processes, developing and executing action plans based on root cause findings.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for continuous improvement, and develop and execute improvement plans accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Four years of relevant work experience (preferred).
  • Pest control program experience (preferred).
  • Certifications/experience with GMPs, SQF, BRC, ISO, FSSC, and HACCP (preferred).

Skills

  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant quality assurance techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers to promote or sell ideas or concepts.
  • Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.

Professional & Education Qualifications

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or work-related experience (preferred).

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring salary range: $98,900 - $141,330 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
