About the role
The Manager of Payroll is responsible for U.S. and global payroll activities, developing policies, procedures, and payroll strategy. This role directs the activities of all payroll staff and ensures the organization’s payroll processing objectives are met, including relationships with internal and external auditors and state and federal agencies.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to payroll process standards, including system design, data collection, calculations, data input, and related reporting.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal policies, procedures, and controls related to payroll processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements.
- Lead and develop the payroll team, including hiring, training, employee development, managing workload, establishing priorities, and conducting performance reviews.
- Manage payroll work activities, including verification of electronic reports, salary deductions (mandatory and voluntary), W-2 preparation, quarterly and annual tax reports, and other payroll-related actions.
- Serve as Payroll lead for special projects, such as the development of an integrated Human Resource/Payroll information system.
- Provide direction to HRIS on maintenance and enhancements to the Payroll and HR suite of products.
- Protect payroll operations by maintaining confidentiality of records.
- Support global expansion by managing payroll processes for Canada, the UK, and future worldwide operations.
- Assist internal and external auditors during the audit process by providing documents, reports, and other payroll-related credentials, and implementing procedural changes as recommended.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with course study in accounting or a related field required.
- CPP designation preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll experience in a global environment.
- Retail or multi-location experience preferred.
- 2–4 years of supervisory experience.

- Knowledge of payroll, human resources, and accounting operations applications.
- Considerable knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll functions, administration, regulations, and their underlying principles.
- Knowledge of major payroll applications, such as ADP and/or Ceridian.

Pay
The standard base pay range for this role is posted at a minimum and maximum rate. The starting rate of pay offered will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, training, and/or experience, and internal equity. At David’s Bridal, it is rare for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range in their role, but instead closer to the middle of the posted range, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the details and circumstances of each position and candidate.
