Job Summary
The compensation target for this role is: $76,500 - $90,000. As Payroll Manager, you own the end-to-end payroll function for a growing workforce. You're the person everyone relies on to get it right — because getting it right matters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Own and process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Manage payroll team (payroll, payroll taxes and payroll accounting)
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions — earnings, deductions, garnishments, commissions, and equity compensation
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations; manage tax filings, year-end W-2s, and ACA reporting
- Partner with HR to ensure data integrity across HRIS and payroll systems; audit and reconcile records regularly
- Partner with all other departments to ensure payroll objectives are met and that payroll needs are addressed
- Manage team as they address payroll related questions and issues
- Manage relationships with payroll vendors and stay ahead of system updates or changes
- Build and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Review and help reconcile payroll accounting, journal entries, accruals, and audits
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate payroll processes as the company scales
- Stay current on legislative changes affecting payroll and proactively surface any compliance risks
Required Skills, Education, Experience
- 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a management or lead role
- Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and tax regulations
- 3+ years of recent experience within Workday and Workday Payroll. Experience using Report Writer within Workday
- Experience using a third-party administrator (TPA, such as OSV)
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
- Experience using NetSuite is a plus
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred
- A high integrity — you handle sensitive data with discretion every single day

Physical Requirements
