Manager, Payroll and Compliance
Reporting to the Controller, this role oversees accurate and compliant payroll operations, manages payroll-related regulatory requirements, and maintains strong internal controls over the payroll function. The Payroll and Compliance Manager has one direct report responsible for day-to-day payroll processing and works closely with Human Resources on employee data, benefits, and compensation matters.

Responsibilities
- Review and approve payroll runs processed by the payroll team, including off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, and payroll corrections.
- Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for UKG Ready Payroll, overseeing system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Oversee multi-state payroll compliance, including payroll tax withholding, registrations, reporting, and adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
- Own year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, W-2 corrections, 1099s, payroll tax filings, and support for payroll-related audits.
- Design and maintain payroll internal controls, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, payroll reconciliations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Manage and develop payroll operations, including supervising the payroll processor, partnering with HR on employee lifecycle transactions, and ensuring accurate payroll and benefits processing.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll and compliance.
- Prior experience managing or leading payroll staff strongly preferred.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems, preferably UKG Ready (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paylocity).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
